FAQs
General questions
How much does a home elevator cost?
Home elevators typically range from $36,000 to $100,000+, depending on the lift type, number of levels served, shaft requirements, cabin dimensions and interior finish. Final pricing depends on your property, and we do a site assessment before quoting.
Where does Lift Ease work?
We mainly work across Victoria, with a showroom at 61 Slater Parade, Keilor East, and also service parts of New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania. Our NSW office is in Surry Hills.
Can I visit the showroom?
Yes. Our Keilor East showroom is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and saturdays by appointment only. You can book a visit online.
What warranty do your lifts come with?
A Factory backed 5 Year Parts Warranty on all our full elevators, and 2 years on the Levare compact lifts.
Are your lifts built to Australian Standards?
Yes. Our elevators are built to AS 1735, with full adherence to Australian Lift Standards. Our commercial lifts are DDA compliant, with tactile controls, auto doors and compliant cabins.
Do your lifts need a machine room?
No. Every Lift Ease unit is machine-room-less, so no model needs a separate machine room.
Can you put a lift in an existing house?
Yes, a large percentage of home lifts are retrofitted.
Does a home lift need a pit?
Most modern home lifts need only a shallow pit, somewhere between 30 mm and 200 mm below the lowest floor. The Vector Pro needs 120 mm and the Atlus 50 to 150 mm.
Should I choose a hydraulic or electric home lift?
Both work well. Hydraulic lifts like the Vector Pro are proven and smooth; electric drives like the Atlus screw drive and the Zenith Ultra belt drive need no hydraulic oil. The right one depends on your space and floors.
What happens if the power goes out?
Home lifts have a battery backup that brings the car to the nearest landing and opens the door, so nobody is left sitting in a stopped lift.
What maintenance is required?
We recommend a minimum of one service per year, twice-yearly for heavily used lifts, or as outlined by the manufacturer's servicing schedule.
FAQs
Funding questions
Can the NDIS pay for a home elevator?
Yes, in the right circumstances. The NDIS treats a home lift as a complex home modification, funded through the Capital Supports, Home Modifications budget, provided it meets the scheme's funding criteria and is supported by the right evidence.
Can Support at Home help pay for a home lift?
Possibly. AT-HM can put up to $15,390 towards prescribed home modifications. A home lift depends on the AT-HM list and your OT's prescription, and the funding usually covers part of the cost, not all of it.
Vector Pro
Vector Pro questions
How much space does the Vector Pro need?
The Vector Pro is designed to be compact, often fitting into the space of a standard closet. We offer a free consultation to assess your home's specific needs.
What pit does the Vector Pro need?
The Vector Pro needs a pit of just 120 mm.
How far can the Vector Pro travel?
The Vector Pro travels up to 10 m and serves up to 4 stops, with cabins up to 1100 × 1350 mm.
Does the Vector Pro need a machine room?
No. Thanks to its submerged worm screw hydraulic motor, the pump needs only a small cupboard, with no machine room.
Is the Vector Pro noisy, or does it smell of oil?
No. The Vector Pro is one of the quietest hydraulic lifts in the Australian market, with no loud noise: our showroom unit measured 42 dB. Its leak-proof ram design means zero leaks, spills or odours, so there is no oil smell.
What power does the Vector Pro need?
Single phase 230VAC, like all our home elevators. It draws around 14 A depending on configuration, less than the standard 32 A typical of electric traction. Only the E1 commercial lift needs three phase power.
Is the Vector Pro wheelchair friendly?
Yes. Standard cabins range from 750 × 700 mm to 1100 × 1350 mm, with complete bespoke sizing available. Raise wheelchair access at the first site visit so the cabin is specified for it from the start.
How long does installation take?
Installation of the Vector Pro typically takes 1–2 weeks.
Zenith Ultra
Zenith Ultra questions
Is the Zenith Ultra for homes or public buildings?
The Zenith Ultra is our home version, serving up to 6 levels (G+5). For public-use buildings we offer the Zenith DDA, which serves up to 10 levels (G+9).
How much space does the Zenith Ultra need?
The Zenith Ultra may require more space than our compact models due to its larger capacity and custom configurations. Standard cabins are 1000 × 1200 mm and 1100 × 1400 mm, with complete bespoke sizing available. We offer a free consultation to assess your home's specific needs.
How far can the Zenith Ultra travel, and what pit does it need?
Up to 15 m of travel, with a pit of 150 to 300 mm. It serves up to 6 levels (G+5) in a home.
What power does the Zenith Ultra need?
Single phase 230VAC, with an energy recovery system. Only the E1 commercial lift needs three phase power.
Is the Zenith Ultra wheelchair friendly?
Yes. A car that takes a wheelchair and a carer needs internal dimensions of roughly 1100 × 1400 mm, one of the Zenith Ultra standard cabin sizes. Raise wheelchair access at the first site visit so the cabin is specified for it from the start.
How long does installation take?
Installation of the Zenith Ultra typically takes 1–2 weeks.
Atlus
Atlus questions
Does the Atlus need a pit?
Only a shallow one. The Atlus has a low to no pit option, needing a pit depth of 50 mm to 150 mm.
How is the Atlus different from the Vector Pro?
The Atlus shares the Vector Pro load (400 kg, 5 person), door, cabin and sizing options, including cabins up to 1100 × 1350 mm. It uses an electric hybrid screw drive instead of hydraulics, travels at 0.15 to 0.30 m/s and needs only a 50 to 150 mm pit.
Does the Atlus use oil?
No. Its fully contained screw system means no oil mess and reduced maintenance requirements.
What power does the Atlus need?
Single phase 230VAC, like all our home elevators. Only the E1 commercial lift needs three phase power.
How long does installation take?
Installation of the Atlus typically takes 1–2 weeks.
Zenith DDA
Zenith DDA questions
What is the Zenith DDA for?
The Zenith DDA is the public-use version of the Zenith, built for commercial and office buildings. For homes we offer the Zenith Ultra.
What size is the Zenith DDA car?
The Zenith DDA car is 1100 × 1400 mm.
How many floors can the Zenith DDA serve?
The Zenith DDA serves up to 10 levels (G+9).

Does the Zenith DDA need a machine room?
No. The Zenith DDA is machine-room-less (MRL), with the drive housed in the shaft.
Why traction and not hydraulic?
We only install electric traction for our commercial passenger elevators, because of its superior duty cycle and long-lasting reliability in high-use commercial settings. We don’t offer hydraulic commercial passenger lifts.
What power does the Zenith DDA need?
Single phase 230VAC. Only the E1 commercial lift needs three phase power.
Is it suited to busy buildings?
Yes. The Zenith DDA is built specifically for high-traffic commercial environments and handles high cycle counts while maintaining a sleek, professional office design.
