FAQs

Questions about choosing a lift

What is the installation process like?

Our certified technicians handle the entire installation process. Installation takes about 2 days for Levare lifts, 1–2 weeks for home lifts (Vector Pro, Zenith Ultra, Atlus) 2–4 weeks for commercial lifts (Zenith DDA, E1), and within a week for the RB150 platform lift. We begin with a thorough site inspection, prepare the area, and then install the elevator with minimal disruption to your home. We conclude with rigorous safety testing.

What are the power requirements?

All our home elevators run on single phase 230VAC power, as do the Zenith DDA and RB150. Only the E1 commercial lift needs three phase power.

How much space is required for a residential elevator?

The space required depends on the model. The Vector Pro is designed to be compact, often fitting into the space of a standard closet. The Zenith Ultra may require more space due to its larger capacity and custom configurations. We offer a free consultation to assess your home's specific needs.

Are your elevators safe?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. All our elevators exceed Australian safety standards and come equipped with multiple redundant safety features, including emergency brakes, battery backup for lowering in a power outage, and in-cabin emergency communication systems.

Can a home lift fit a wheelchair?

Yes, provided the cabin is specified for it from the start. A car that takes a wheelchair and a carer needs internal dimensions of roughly 1100mm by 1400mm, which is noticeably bigger than a standard two person cabin and needs a larger shaft to suit. Retrofitting a bigger car later is rarely practical, so raise wheelchair access at the first site visit. NDIS home modification funding can cover a lift for eligible participants where it's assessed as reasonable and necessary.

Does a home lift need a pit?

Most modern home lifts need only a shallow pit, somewhere between 30mm and 200mm below the lowest floor. Some models run with no pit at all using a small ramp into the car.

How much headroom does a home lift need?

Around 2.4 metres of clear height above the top landing floor covers most compact home lifts, and some models work with less. Standard 2.4 and 2.7 metre ceilings are fine. Raked ceilings, roof trusses and bulkheads are the usual complications, and they're a common reason a lift gets relocated to a different part of the house during design.

How much does a home lift cost to run?

Very little. Most residential lifts use single phase household power and draw about as much over a year as a fridge, since they only run for a few seconds at a time. Servicing is the more meaningful ongoing cost, usually one or two visits a year on a maintenance agreement, plus the phone or GSM connection for the emergency call unit.
